Commercial Construction in Whistler
Burj has been redefining the conventional concept of stand alone work spaces by integrating work with leisure. Hotels, restaurants, bars and offices across the corridor.
Commercial Building in a Resort Town
Burj Enterprises delivers commercial construction in Whistler, Squamish and across the Sea to Sky corridor, and has done since 1996. Hotels, restaurants, bars, offices and public spaces. We are an insured, licensed HPO builder in British Columbia.
Commercial work in a resort town has a constraint most markets do not: the building usually has to keep operating, or has to be finished before a season starts. A restaurant closed an extra three weeks is real money. Sequencing the work around that is part of what we are being paid for.
What We Build
- Hospitality. Hotels, lodges, restaurants and bars, including work in occupied buildings.
- Offices and workspaces. Ground up and full fit out.
- Tenant improvements. Reconfiguring a leased space for a new use or a new tenant.
- Public and cultural spaces. Buildings that carry heavy daily traffic and need to be detailed for it.
- Commercial building envelopes. Re cladding and roofline work on existing commercial buildings, covered under exterior building envelopes.
Who We Have Built For
Nita Lake Lodge, the Squamish Lil'wat Cultural Centre, Black Rock Oceanfront Resort, Whistler Sport Legacies, Pinkbike and Trailforks, Sachi Sushi and Cabin Fever. The Pinkbike office in Squamish and a large amount of the interior and common area work at Nita Lake Lodge are ours. There are photographs of both in the gallery.
Working Around an Operating Business
Most of our commercial work happens in a building that is still open, or that has a hard date it has to open by. We plan around that: phased work, night and shoulder season scheduling where it helps, dust and noise control, and clear separation between the site and the parts of the building the public is still using.
Preconstruction Matters More Here
A proactive and collaborative approach in the preconstruction phase is what arrives at a project definition clear enough to lead to successful delivery. On a commercial job with a fixed opening date and a tenant waiting, the decisions made before anyone breaks ground are the ones that determine whether the date holds.
Common Questions
Can you work while our business stays open?
Yes, and most of our commercial work is done that way. We phase the work, separate the site from the areas your customers use, and schedule the disruptive parts for the hours or the season that cost you least.
What kind of commercial projects do you take on?
Hotels and lodges, restaurants and bars, offices, tenant improvements, and public and cultural buildings, across Whistler, Squamish and the Sea to Sky corridor.
Do you handle tenant improvements?
Yes. Reconfiguring a leased space for a new tenant or a new use is a regular part of our commercial work.
Who have you built for in Whistler?
Nita Lake Lodge, the Squamish Lil'wat Cultural Centre, Black Rock Oceanfront Resort, Whistler Sport Legacies, Pinkbike and Trailforks, Sachi Sushi and Cabin Fever, among others.
